Glenlola Collegiate Student Council 2009/10
Glenlola Collegiate’s first Student Council was formed only a few weeks ago, but already it is busy dealing with some important school issues. The main aim of the Student Council is to involve pupils in the decision-making process, and to listen to the needs and concerns of the students in the hope of reaching a conclusion that pleases the majority.
Each Year Group is accounted for in the Student Council by a Year Group Representative. These representatives have the task of meeting with Form and Vice Captains to discuss any proposed changes or new policies the Student Council has been considering.
Form Captains must then deliver the information to their Form Class, and report back on their class’ reactions and opinions to their Year Group Representative at a later date. All this information is then fed back to the Student Council. This ensures pupils at all levels are involved.
The Student Council was seen as an attractive opportunity to many to have a voice in how the school is governed, and influence change. The Student Council Chairperson for 2009/10 is Megan O’Kane from 14E.
