The involvement of the teaching staff in both a consultative and an advisory capacity is most important prior to activating or implementing curricular decisions. Underpinning this approach is the clear desire to involve staff on a whole school basis on the curriculum.
The curriculum management process operates through:
- Subject Departments
- Heads of Departments
- Curriculum and Careers Teams
- Senior Management Team
The role of the Heads of Departments is managerial and cross-curricular. Individual Heads of Departments may establish a departmental working system providing such does not impinge on whole school organisation, the curriculum balance or statutory requirements.
Working arrangements involve a cohesive approach to all curriculum matters.
- Individual Subject Departments
- Areas of Study
- Junior, Middle and Senior School Sections
- Curriculum and Careers Teams
- Senior Management Team
- Board of Governors
Framework providing a whole school approach

The Curriculum and Careers Teams work with the HODs and School Sections to initiate research/investigation and draw up findings/recommendations.
The Curriculum and Careers Teams consider/amend/accept/refer details to SMT.
The Senior Management Team endorses/modifies/refers back/rejects and links to the Headmaster and to the Board of Governors.
The framework aims to provide:
- A mechanism for base up or top down approaches to be mutually possible.
- For a wide range of staff expertise and involvement.
All meetings are minuted and these are circulated as appropriate.
