The School Library is run by Ms Ruth Farr with the able assistance of the Pupil Librarians. These girls are often recruited while still in Junior School and continue to support the Library throughout their time at Glenlola Collegiate.
Special occasions on the calendar and literary events such as National Poetry Day are frequently celebrated in the Library with presentations and displays. We also contribute to the town’s Aspect’s literary festival. This year Kate Newman ran a very productive workshop with our Senior School pupils.
The Library is also invaluable as a resource centre which supports pupils in the personal research now required in all subjects on the curriculum.
The Library is open to all pupils at the following times:-
- Before school from 8.30 am
- Break-Time
- Lunch
- After school until 4.30pm Monday to Thursday. Friday until 4.00pm.
Pupils may borrow Library Resources for the following periods of time:
- Books: 2 Weeks
- Audio Cassettes: 1 Week
- Videos/DVDs: 3 Nights
All Junior School pupils also have a scheduled class in the Library once a fortnight, during which they have the opportunity to expand their appreciation of fiction as well as learning how to make the best use of printed and electronic resources.
Take a Tour of the Library to find out where the different resources are located.
