Senior School Pupil Achievements 2009-2010
Oxbridge 2009-2010
In 2010, two Year 14 girls received Oxbridge offers: Ruoling Yan to read Medicine at Kings College, Cambridge; and Kathryn Hunter to read English at Corpus Christi College, Cambridge. Both these girls had competed against stiff opposition in the preceding year and had won places at Cambridge Summer School.
This academic year, three of our current Year 13s have also won places to attend Cambridge Summer School 2010 - Bryony Gray (History/French); Gemma Aicken (English); and Cassandra Smith (Physics). The girls applied for places against increased competition from schools right across Northern Ireland.
In February 2010, Glenlola Collegiate hosted the first Year 12 Oxbridge admissions conference to be held in Northern Ireland, when we were host venue for local schools.
Diana Award
In November 2009, Elaine McVeigh, Year 14, received a Diana Award at the annual Outstanding Achievement Awards ceremonym where she was the winner of the Individual Service to the Community Award. In 2009 Elaine mentored a Year 8 girl who had just recovered from leukaemia and she was given the award in recognition of 'how she inspired the life of a young person'.
Dancing Achievement
In March 2010, Denise Brown, Year 14, reached the Irish Dancing finals.
