Glenlola Collegiate Pupils report to the
Minister for International Development
Mike Foster, the Minister for International Development, was in Belfast on Thursday 4th February. Pupils and staff from Glenlola Collegiate were invited to St Joseph's College, Ravenhill Road, to give a presentation to the Minister on the work that led to our partnership with Sakumono Junior High School in Ghana.

Dr Carolyn Larmour then described how this work had led to a successful application to the British Council for funding for a reciprocal visit between the two schools. She described her visit to Ghana and some of the projects that were under taken during her time there. She highlighted the major issues of maintaining biodiversity and sustainability which are key to both schools in this project.

During the summer break, Lorna Rainey took part in a Nuffield Bursary placement with the RSPB. Lorna spoke of how valuable she had personally found this experience and her hopes that this project would open up similar doors and experiences for more pupils.
Mrs Jacquie Milligan summed up by describing how the project will be expanded to form a global curriculum and helping to raise pupils’ awareness of, and responsibility for, global issues.
